How we check figures
One set of rate tables powers every calculator, table, example, comparison, embed and export. Before each release, automated tests compare results with worked answers taken from the official rules, including threshold boundaries, reliefs, surcharges, refunds, leases, shared ownership and company purchases. When we can't calculate something reliably, we say so and link to the official calculator.
Independence
The tools are free, need no account and don't collect contact details. We don't accept payment to change figures.
Who publishes this site
stampduty.co.uk is an independent, free information site. It is not run by HMRC, Revenue Scotland or the Welsh Revenue Authority, and its content has not been reviewed by a regulated tax adviser. We only list qualifications and reviews that have really taken place.
Report a mistake
If a figure looks wrong, check it against HMRC's official calculator, which is the authoritative answer. Corrections we make are logged with the date on How we calculate.
